Celebrating 50 Years of Classical

On a chilly morning – December 21, 1976 – had you tuned to 90.5 FM, you would have heard The Star-Spangled Banner followed by an announcer saying, “Good morning. WUOL Louisville, Kentucky now begins its first day of FM stereophonic broadcasting.” We've been spreading the joy of classical music over the airwaves every day since.

Community support has helped us grow into a 24/7 classical music resource – both on the air and in the community – with music education programs for children, free concerts exploring new and diverse compositions, and broadcasts showcasing Louisville's classical arts organizations across the commonwealth.

All of this is possible because of your support and investment in Louisville Public Media. The magic and connection of classical radio will be here for at least 50 more years, but only with you by our side.

Please make a gift today in honor of 50 years of Classical Louisville.
